A chicken plucker really takes any hassle out of backyard chicken (or other fowl) processing. Plucking a chicken by hand is, of course, doable, but it’s super messy and will take you at least 30 minutes to finish. But with an automatic chicken plucker, you avoid all the mess, and you save time too!

The plucker consists of a tub with a circular, motor-driven plate in the bottom. The plate (called the “featherplate”) is studded with rubber “plucker fingers.” Turn the motor on, and the plate spins. Drop one or more scalded birds into the tub, while spraying them with a garden hose. The critters tumble around while the fingers flail the feathers off. In about 15 seconds the chickens will be plucked clean. It’s truly amazing. It’s one of those things you have to see to believe. There are numerous YouTube videos of the plucker. Raising chickens for meat is a rewarding activity, but it is not for all. Please note that although the machine has a load of 7 kg, different rules apply in case of plucking ducks. The shape of the waterfowl is elongated, like a loaf. A large duck, of course, will fit into a barrel with a diameter of 600 mm, but it will not rotate in the machine, so half of the feathers will remain unplucked. The tank with a diameter of 600 mm is suitable for ducks weighing up to 3 kg.This feather plucker machine has been improved in comparison with analogues. When I heard the familiar sound of the UPS truck, I grabbed my four-wheeled cart and headed for the gate. The driver pulled down a large box that weighed almost 90 pounds and then loaded it on my cart. Back home, I opened the box, checking the condition of the parts, before looking at the construction manual.Once my husband got home, we took it all out of the box and started to put it together. It only required a few hand tools and was easy to assemble.My husband was impressed with the weight and size of the motor. It took us 15 to 20 minutes to put the Chicken Plucker together. I really like the solid rubber tires on it, that made it so easy to move around. The stainless steel construction of the tub was very impressive also.
